I tried using a number from Planet Numbers, thinking it would let me chat with my Mum in Ireland for just 2p a minute, plus what I thought was a 25p access charge from NOWTV. But, surprise surprise, NOWTV ended up billing me over £15 for that 90-minute call! I reached out to both companies about this. So far, NOWTV hasn’t bothered to reply. On the other hand, Planet Numbers got back to me pretty quickly and handled things well. Sadly, their number just doesn’t work with my provider. I really think they should make that clearer on their site. Still, I was quite impressed with their customer service. They gave me a thorough explanation and even tossed in £5 of international calling credit as a nice gesture.

I got charged 70 pence a minute by Vodafone for calling Ireland via Planet Numbers, and the total came to £28. If I had just called directly from my mobile, it would’ve only set me back about £6. Make sure to check your mobile provider contracts before making calls.

Fantastic service! I’ve been using it for calls to Canada from the UK, and the rates are just as they say. Super easy to add funds. It does cut off after 90 minutes each time, but you can reconnect right away if you need to, so it’s not a big deal. Totally recommend it!

I needed to make an urgent, budget-friendly call to Spain today (Saturday the 7th) to try and save a rescued animal's life. I signed up and paid for credit, but when I called the access number, I kept hearing, "this number is not accepting calls now"...!?!?!?

There was no way to talk to anyone until at least Monday during business hours, which by then would be way too late.

UPDATE MONDAY 9th: This morning, I got a reply to the message we sent on Saturday to report the issue. They think the problem might have been caused by a misplaced digit? Not sure how that happened, and now it’s too late to fix it. Honestly, waiting nearly 48 hours for a response about a fault isn’t acceptable, especially when we had such an urgent need for their service.

UPDATE MONDAY 9th PM: I got refunded quickly, so thanks for that. I bumped my rating up from 1 to 2 stars. I would’ve given it a 3, but not being able to reach anyone or get a quick response to the service issue keeps it at 2 stars.
